Bet Type GuideSame Game Parlay (SGP) Explained
A Same Game Parlay combines multiple outcomes from a single game into one bet. Because the legs are correlated, the sportsbook applies special pricing that differs from a standard parlay. SGP has become the highest-growth bet type in US sports betting. This guide explains how it works and where to find the best SGP engines in DC.
How SGP differs from a standard parlay
In a standard parlay, each leg is independent (a Commanders bet, a Wizards bet, a Capitals bet; three separate games). The parlay payout is the simple multiplication of each leg\'s decimal odds.
In a Same Game Parlay, all legs are from the same game and the outcomes are correlated. A Commanders win is more likely to coincide with Jayden Daniels throwing for 300+ yards than not. The sportsbook prices SGP using correlation models that account for this dependency.
Example: Commanders 3-leg SGP
If these three were independent bets, the multiplied odds would be roughly +400. The actual SGP price might be +320 because the legs are correlated (a Commanders win is more likely when Daniels has a good passing game and McLaurin scores). The lower price reflects the higher combined probability.
How correlation pricing works
Sportsbooks use statistical models to price each SGP combination. The model considers:
- How often each individual outcome occurs.
- How often pairs of outcomes occur together vs apart.
- The mathematical correlation between each pair.
Positively correlated legs (more likely together) reduce the parlay price compared to independent multiplication. Negatively correlated legs (less likely together) increase the parlay price. For most SGP combinations, the sportsbook keeps a 6-12% margin on the priced payout.

Frequently asked questions
What is a Same Game Parlay?
A Same Game Parlay (SGP) combines multiple outcomes from a single game into one bet. Common combinations: spread + total + player prop. Unlike a traditional parlay where each leg is independent, SGP legs from the same game are correlated, so the sportsbook applies correlation pricing to the combined payout.
How does correlation pricing work?
Positively correlated outcomes (a team winning + their star scoring a lot) are priced HIGHER as a parlay than the uncorrelated multiplication would suggest. The sportsbook accounts for the fact that these outcomes are more likely to happen together than not. Negatively correlated outcomes (a team winning + the total going under, in a defensive game) get a more favorable parlay price than uncorrelated multiplication.
What is SGP+ at DraftKings?
SGP+ is DraftKings' multi-game Same Game Parlay product. Unlike a standard SGP (which combines legs from one game), SGP+ lets you combine selections across multiple games on the same slate. Example: combine an NFL Sunday spread with an MLB Sunday total and an NHL Sunday moneyline into a single multi-game SGP+. This is unique to DraftKings as of 2026.
Can I include player props in an SGP?
Yes. Player props are SGP-eligible at every DC operator. Combining a team to win with a star player having a strong stat line is one of the most popular SGP recipes. FanDuel's engine supports up to 14 legs per SGP including any combination of moneyline, spread, total, player props, and game props.
Do SGP legs that push affect the parlay?
Most DC operators void a pushed SGP leg and recalculate the parlay payout at the reduced number of legs. Example: a 4-leg SGP where one leg pushes pays out as a 3-leg parlay at the multiplied odds of the remaining 3 legs. Some sportsbooks treat any push as a loss; always check house rules.
